A family walk along Grand Union Canal and a broken phone

Fri 22 December

H was feeling better after a day's rest but we still decided to take it slow just in case. We had a late start after a leisurely breakfast, ventured  west of the canal towards West Drayton. It was the ugliest walk of the holiday. The sides of the canals were littered with hundreds of beer cans until Stockey Park where the path becomes designer gravel.

Out at Yiewsley Road, we had tea at Costa. We had made our quota of 4 km for the day and anything extra was a bonus. Since it would take about an hour to Grapes Tandoori ( it was nearby Yiewsley but oh, the bus connect was not brilliant )  by bus, it would mean we could be there for lunch at noon. A mishap happened and my new Mi Note 4 slipped from my hand, causing 2 cracks across the shiny screen. I am heart broken. Thank God everything on this trip is insured.

U5 took us to Hayes and harlington and another 9 stops down on 140, we found ourselves in Grapes Tandoori.

Business must have been slow the last few days because the waiter remembered us and asked if we made it to Ruislip Lido.

We had a lengthy meal, very heavy, very good of curries and naan. Then to shed off the calories, we walked to Lombardy retail mall where H managed to fall in love with  2 blouses, one made of cashmere and another a pretty flowered blouse, about 50 gbp.

Now mission accomplished, we headed back to Staycity. At Iceland, we picked up a chicken and mixed root vegetable for dinner, all for 3.50 gbp.

While Pat packed, we enjoyed Top Gear and laughed at the antics of 3 guys driving from Chile to Patagonia on 3 beat up cars,

Singapore, we are coming.
